PawPaws

Our nations largest native fruit.

Pawpaw’s are shaped like a giant lima bean, green on the outside with soft avocado textured yellow flesh on the inside. They’re also known as a Custard Apple due to their soft insides that can easily be eaten with a spoon.

They can be used in pies (make a pumpkin pie but substitute the pumpkin for pawpaw flesh) or breads (substitute pawpaws for bananas in your favorite banana bread recipe) but usually they’re just eaten fresh.

Pawpaw season is very short usually running only the second, third and fourth weeks of September.

PawPaws are $5.99 per pound.
